Columbus Civic Center hosts songwriting contest


The Columbus Civic Center is looking for their next theme song and if you have the singing talent, the winner could be you.

Using the slogan “The Center of it All,” the Columbus Civic Center is looking for 30-second songs of any genre to become their new theme song. The winning song will be played at various events at the Civic Center, according to an email from the playhouse.

“This is the first time that the Columbus Civic Center will have a theme song,” Kanise Wiggins, Columbus Civic Center marketing manager, said by email. “We are delighted to add a new twist to the Columbus Civic Center.”

The winner of the contest will be announced in February. In addition to performing their song at events held at the Civic Center, the winning artist (s) will receive a media race, event tickets and a party in the centre’s reception hall.

To enter the contest, record a 30-second song and email it to

Use the subject line “The Center of Any Song Contest” and fill in the body of the email with the name of the artist (s).

After that add a digital copy of the song in a popular file format like MP3, WAV or AAC. Finally, send the email and wait for the contest results.

Wiggins, along with other staff at the Columbus Civic Center, will be the contest judges.

All songs must be submitted by January 31st.
