Songwriter Ed Sheeran unveiled as mastermind of JLS comeback

The singer said it has also been “a real joy to write” new songs for the boy band as they prepare to reunite for the first time since their split in 2013.
Their reunion plans have been put on hold due to the pandemic, but it looks like the big JLS reunion may be worth the wait as the quartet enlists the help of songwriting maestro Ed Sheeran before their return.
The boyband, who finished runner-up to Alexandra Burke on The X Factor in 2008, had announced that they had reunited in February 2020, with their Beat Again Tour scheduled for November 2020 before the coronavirus pushed it back to October 2021 .
The quartet used the lockdown to brew new music for the first time since their split in 2013, with songwriter Ed helping the boys.
Speaking on the Capital Evening Show, the Shape of You frontman said, âI actually wrote a song for them, with Steve Mac doing Beat Again and stuff.
“It’s classic JLS and it was a real, real joy to write.”
Having written hits for One Direction and Justin Bieber in the past, the 30-year-old songwriter is sure to ensure that the X Factor’s new music dominates the charts again.
JLS announced their breakup and farewell tour in May 2013, after seven years together topping the UK charts.
The group, made up of Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes and JB Gill, first rose to prominence by appearing in the fifth series of the ITV reality show in 2008, narrowly missing out on victory over Alexandra Burke.
Signing with Epic Records soon after, their first two singles, Beat Again and Everybody in Love, both peaked the charts and went straight to number one.
The London-born boyband won several awards throughout their life together and at the height of their fame they were reported to be the 16th richest reality TV stars in the UK, with an estimated fortune to £ 6 million per member. .

In February 2020, fans were elated when the four-piece group announced their reunion plans on social media.
Drawing on their official Twitter account seven years after their split, JLS shared their comeback video, captioned: “IT’S THE TIME !! Our #BeatAgainTour is coming in November / December. We can’t wait to all be. reunited with you! ”
Each member appears in the short clip, as they discuss their plans to reunite on a group phone call before revealing the dates and locations of their upcoming concerts – while their hit song Beat Again plays.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, their return plans have been halted, but their tour is now expected to continue later this year.
