New York rapper Fat Joe wins hit songwriting credit lawsuit

By Adam Lidgett (Jan. 6, 2022, 6:32 p.m. EST) – A New York federal judge awarded rapper Fat Joe a victory in a copyright lawsuit against an artist who claimed to have co-wrote the multi-platinum single by 2016 “All the Way Up,” saying he ceded all rights he had to the song to Fat Joe.

U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald on Wednesday awarded defendants Joseph Cartagena – better known as Fat Joe – and Remy Ma to offer them summary judgment in a lawsuit brought by Eric Elliott, who plays Fly Havana.

The judge said that years ago Elliott signed what the court said was a “piece of paper” …
