African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and Multi-Grammy Award-nominated composer and producer Vincent Berry invite East African songwriters to the premiere of a series of songwriting masterclasses captivating.
On Thursday July 30, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. EAT, the Intra African Trade Fair (IATF 2021) is delighted to present 6-time Grammy-nominated composer Vincent Le Carl Berry II in a Songwriting Masterclass, specially designed for the music industry in the East. Africa.
Promoted by Afreximbank, the #TheCookout Masterclass is a live collaborative songwriting experience designed to engage participants and encourage creative writing, group function, reflection, peer learning, interplay between peers and practice.
Vincent Berry II personally invites upcoming and professional songwriters from East Africa to sign up for this unique interactive and educational experience that will see a song written in real time, through a truly collaborative process (creatively and legally), between East African based songwriters and himself.
Vincent Berry II is most famous for being the lead writer of “Sandcastles”, on Beyonce’s highly acclaimed project “Lemonade”.
“Lemonade” instantly became a pop culture phenomenon. The album and film sparked an intense global discussion about race, feminism, social media, and the music industry. Berry has the great honor to be part of this 59e Annual Grammy Award Winning Project! Continuing the path of success, Berry has been involved in six nominations over the past eight years.
More recently, I participated with J. Cole & Dreamville in the “Revenge of the Dreamer III”, a 62sd Nominated for the annual Grammy Awards for best rap album of the year.
Berry has also written for Akon, Ari Lennox, Babyface, Brandy, Chris Brown, Estelle, Mary J. Blige, Migos, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Ty Dolla Sign and Usher, to name a few.
#TheCookout is a resource for influencers and institutions to showcase the creativity of their community, as well as promote team building and collaboration.
This collaboration with IATF 2021 will allow the creative industry of the future to continue producing fresh, conscious and emotionally available content in a sustainable and cutting-edge way.
While the 2021 edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) may not take place until next year, the dynamic agenda for African creatives is ready to begin.
African creative industries will be at the center of the event and #TheCookout, with official IATF Goodwill Ambassador Vincent Berry II, is the start of a program that aims to create a transformative way to engage, to educate and encourage creatives to collaborate globally.
The follow-up version of this Masterclass will take place for other regions of Africa, over the next 12 months as part of the ongoing preparation until IATF 2021.
